Saffron Fall Crocus

This unique crocus blooms in fall, not spring! The beautiful lavender blooms add a wonderful accent to the fall landscape. What really makes them pop, though, is the brilliant red stamens. You've probably seen them in the spice aisle of your grocery store! Saffron is the world's most expensive spice, especially useful in adding color and flavor to rice dishes. It takes tens of thousands of stamens to make one pound of saffron, but you may get enough for one or two special dishes from your garden. Or just enjoy conversation-starting beauty at an odd time for a crocus. It's low-maintenance and naturalizes like a dream.
