Aztec Lily

Graceful, Exotic Blooms
This eye-catching tropical hails from the amaryllis family. If you've received an amaryllis bulb for Christmas before, these grow quite the same way. The Aztec Lily just needs well-draining soil to deliver flowers through summer. In an ideal location, it may even rebloom in fall. The flowers are gorgeous too; the petals are thin, curling ribbons of rich color. Native to rocky Mexican hillsides, Aztec Lily prefers warm arid climates. In hot climates, let its beauty soften the look of a rock garden. You could also control its drainage requirements by putting it in a container and adding a lot of sandy soil to your potting mix. In a mixed container garden, it functions as a thriller, adding color and vertical interest to the display. In cool zones, we suggest forcing it indoors. It does really well as a houseplant.
