FreesiaThe long-lasting blooms of freesias blooms give off a delightful, fresh fragrance that easily perfumes an entire room, making freesias perfect for cut bouquets. Freesia makes delightful border flowers and container-grown bulbs.

Botanical Name:

Freesia

Most Popular Colors: Light blue, white, pink.

Blooming Season: Late spring to early summer.

Soil Preferences: Moderately fertile, well-drained soil.

Climate Preferences: Freesias should be lifted in climates with freezing winters.

Sun Exposure: Partial to full sun.

Landscaping Tips: Because freesia flowers grow on the sides of the stems, the flowers are visible from any angle! Plant freesia in clumps or borders.

Care:

  • Consider fertilizing the plants when they are 6 inches tall. While the freesias are actively growing, water once per week, but don't flood the soil.
  • When planted in the fall, freesias will bloom in the spring, with flowers lasting for up to four weeks.
  • When the plants have finished blooming, allow the foliage to die down naturally.
