Primroses


Primroses Primroses provide prolific clusters of blooms and are ideal for gardeners looking for color in shaded beds.

Botanical Name: Primula

Most Popular Colors: Pale pink, bright pink, mauve.

Blooming Season: Midsummer.

Soil Preferences: Hummus-rich, moist soil.

Climate Preferences: Primroses are winter-hardy, but cannot survive very hot summers. They love moist soil ad cool temperatures.

Sun Exposure: Partial shade - primroses will not bloom if planted in deep shade.

Landscaping Tips: Consider locating primroses near other plants that provide shade - under low-growing trees or shrubs. Or, plant near the home to enjoy bunches of bright colored flowers from your door or window!

Planting: Enrich soil with hummus before planting. Plant primroses at the same depth they were growing in containers, and water thoroughly.

Care: Add compost yearly to fertilize the soil.Keep plants well-watered.
